1. Augustinergasse

Augustinergasse is one of Zurich’s most charming alleys, lined with beautifully preserved medieval buildings. 3. Storchen

Storchen (after the bird stork) is a famous hotel and a picturesque spot located right by the river Limmat, offering stunning views of Zurich’s Old Town and Grossmünster. It’s a perfect spot for both daytime and nighttime photography, as the area is beautifully lit in the evening. Make sure to go visit Grossmünster (the church with the 2 towers, open during the day).

If you don’t want people in your shots try to visit before 8am! Then you will have the city mostly for yourself. This only works in summer though because of the sunrise being late in winter but before 6am at summer solstice. During winter there are not too many people on the street because it’s colder.

6. Swans at Bellevue

Bellevue, at the northern tip of Lake Zurich, is a vibrant spot known for its great views and busy atmosphere. One of the best things about Bellevue is the chance to photograph the graceful swans that swim along the lake’s edge. These beautiful birds add a nice touch of nature to your photos, especially with Zurich’s skyline in the background. The promenade at Bellevue gives you plenty of places to capture the swans, and it’s even better during the golden hour when the light is perfect.

7. Quaibrücke

Quaibrücke is a bustling bridge that offers stunning views down the river Limmat. 8. Bürkliplatz

Bürkliplatz is a fantastic spot to capture the essence of Zurich, with its view of the lake, boats, and distant mountains. 9. Bahnhofstrasse

Bahnhofstrasse is one of Zurich’s most famous shopping streets, but it’s also a great spot for photography. The tree-lined avenue, with its mix of historic and modern buildings, provides plenty of interesting angles. Capture the hustle and bustle of shoppers, the trams gliding by, and the elegant storefronts. It’s especially beautiful during the holiday season when the street is adorned with festive lights.

10. Paradeplatz

Paradeplatz is the financial heart of Zurich, known for its impressive buildings and bustling atmosphere. This square is surrounded by some of the city’s most important financial institutions, making it a fascinating spot for urban photography. The architecture here is grand and imposing, providing a striking contrast to the more historic parts of the city. It’s a great place to capture the dynamic energy of Zurich’s business district.

At the Paradeplatz you can either visit the Sprüngli Café and try some of their famous Luxemburgerli (Macarons) or you can visit Zeughauskeller, the most popular restaurant from Swiss food.

Bonus 1: Sternwarte Panorama Bar

The Jules Verne Panorama Bar offers one of the best rooftop views in Zurich. It is located in the Urania Sternwarte, which is an observatory in the heart of the city just next to Bahnhofstrasse. Just under the room with the telescope there is a bar that provides a 360-degree view of Zurich’s skyline. Enjoy a drink while you snap photos of the cityscape, with its mix of old and new architecture. The view is particularly stunning at sunset and into the evening when the city’s lights start to twinkle. On some nights the observatory is open to the public and you can view the stars in the sky above Zurich!

Üetliberg mountain offers a breathtaking panoramic view of Zurich, the lake, and the distant Alps. There are several vantage points (like a tower) where you can take amazing photos of the city spread out below. Although you can walk up the mountain from the town, most visitors take the Üetlibergbahn from the HB (main station). After the ride up you will have a short walk to the top where you’ll also find a restaurant.

Die Waid is a fantastic viewpoint located on the edge of Zurich, offering sweeping panoramic views of the entire city, Lake Zurich, and the distant Alps.
